For me, food is the best thing about traveling. I love to eat and I love to try new things. I also love to cook and so traveling brings new dishes to my table when I get back home.
Below are jotted down notes from 2016. Fortunately, I’m going back to Senegal this summer. I’m very much looking forward to the food!

Senegalese food is quite tasty. Yassa, with chicken or fish or lamb (the ones I got to eat), satiates, especially so because of the wonderful aroma/spices used in the preparation. Millet cous cous … yes, that is something I want to try and make at home. Thieboudienne, aka fish and rice — the national dish — never disappoints, at least not for me!
Also, I enjoyed the communal aspect of eating. One big bowl and plenty for everyone to get a sufficient amount, is how it works. A few photos, the first two being from a dinner at middle-class family’s home in Dakar, and the other from a village down Velingara way:
