Land. Water. Adventure. Travel. People.
For nearly 30 years, I’ve had the privilege to travel, work and carry out research around the world, documenting my experiences in personal journals and in published writings for various media outlets. What appears here is a collection of some of that, as well as what will be new offerings of words and photos.
I invite you to take a look around the site, to consider the notion that we live on a beautiful planet and that we, as humans, are more good than we are not. Yes, we have a long way to go in ensuring that future generations have the opportunity to also experience Earth’s natural beauty, and an equally long road to travel in celebrating our common humanity, in all its diversity and wonder. There’s no denying that.
My goal with this Substack is that it might inspire you to get out there. To go. To not be afraid. It’s a big ball of land and water (and sky) and people. Go see it and meet them!
Additionally, I share the words of Mark Twain, from The Innocents Abroad:
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
